LooC’s Favorite Things
As we bid farewell to January and dash straight into the month of all-things-heart-shaped, I thought it would be the perfect time to start a new LooC tradition. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present the very first edition of…*insert drum roll here*….
Ta Da!! What is the LooC List? Well, think of it as an “Oprah’s Favorite Things” spin-off, minus the celebrity host, the talk show, and the car giveaways. 😉 I have rounded up some of my personal faves, as well as LooC-er’s most talked-about, most “liked,” and most purchased items from the past month to create the LooC List. Lots of goodies to show you from January, so let’s get to it.

Dressbarn Kimono Cardigan
This belted cardigan from Dressbarn got rave reviews online, which encouraged me to try it, myself. LooC-er reactions confirmed its “keeper” status. The marled blue/white color is timeless, making it a staple piece for your Fall/Winter wardrobe. The belt detail is quite flattering, which is not usually the case for me, so YAY. It is also surprisingly warm, despite its open knit. Trust me on this! The first time I wore it was for our usual Sunday outing to the local trampoline park. While I highly recommend this cardigan, I do NOT recommend wearing it to chase your 2-year-old and 4-year-old around a trampoline park. Definitely put my deodorant to the test that day! :/ It is also a great price for such a quality piece. If you have not checked out your local Dressbarn, I definitely recommend a trip there soon. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the many great finds and their equally great prices. While the retailer does not, yet, offer a military discount (we’ll work on that…ahem, DB management) they do provide generous coupon codes, so you should never have to pay full price on a Dressbarn purchase.
Target Cascading Simulated Pearl Necklace
I love this modern twist on traditional pearls! Its subtle shimmer caught my eye hanging froom a store mannequin. That led me on a 30-minute goose chase around the accessories section, with zero luck. Finally, I was reduced to asking the closest red-shirt employee if she would mind taking it off the model for me (yes, I’m totally THAT shopper!). This beauty is versatile and classic. Now that I think about it, this Target Cascading Pearl necklace would actually look super cute paired with the Dressbarn cardi! 😉
Rodan + Fields Lash Boost
I must pause here to confess that–aside from a certain jewelry line–I have NEVER been a big fan of consultant-based businesses. My friend, Steph was well aware of my skepticism and never forced her Rodan and Fields ventures on me. Her personal experience with R+F’s Lash Boost was so extraordinary, however, I was compelled to try it, too. Now, a year later, I can only describe this tiny silver tube as MAGIC! Within mere weeks of using it, I was actually receiving compliments on my eyelashes. I have never been paid compliments on my eyelashes before….like….ever. Mascara is now optional, thanks to Lash Boost.
Aside from producing incredible results, the serum is also very gentle. Even my extreme eye and skin sensitivities have never been irritated by Lash Boost. The super simple serum just requires a quick swipe over each eyelid right before bed and, voila, let the magic do its thing overnight. I am a Lash Boost devotee, for sure! M•A•C Cosmetics
I was introduced to MAC Cosmetics during a recent family trip to Tucson, where my Mom surprised us all with a long-overdue family photo shoot. As part of the surprise, my Mom scheduled professional make-up for herself, my sis-in-law, and me at her nearby MAC store. I have to give a shout out to Alexa at MAC La Encantada for getting this hot mess…
totally camera-ready….
…in UNDER 20 minutes. Miraculous!
Two of the products Alexa used stood out to me right away–the Strobe Cream Liquid Highlighter (in Peachlite) and the Mineralize Skinfinish (in Soft & Gentle). These two provide a killer one-two punch to uneven, dull skin. I loved the smooth application of the Strobe cream and the subtle glow left by the Skinfinish. Not only does MAC employ expert artists and provide professional-grade products, it also promotes eco-friendly measures through its Back-to-MAC program. For every 6 original MAC makeup containers recycled back to the store, you will receive a free gift. How cool is that?! For that reason, alone, MAC Cosmetics had to have a spot on the LooC List this month.
Tone It Up Protein Bars
Rounding out this month’s LooC List is my new favorite grab-and-go meal–Tone It Up Protein Bars. I am particularly fond of the Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor. These just landed at Target, making them even more convenient to stock in your pantry. Tone It Up seeks to fuel women’s bodies with REAL food, so the bar’s main ingredient is an energizing pea-based protein…none of that yucky Whey stuff. The Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor is seriously delicious and truly keeps me energized for a good 2-3 hours. Lately, I’ve been having a bar and a coconut milk mocha on my drive to work, or crumbling it on top of my almond yogurt (if I actually have time to sit and eat with a spoon). Try both flavors and tell me which is your fave!
There ‘ya have it, LooC-ers, our Inaugural LooC List of 2018. I hope you have fun trying these top finds from the last month. I can’t wait to see what we will discover NEXT month! Speaking of next month, have you printed off your February LooC Calendar yet? Make sure to schedule in that all-important “YOU” time this month! Get your free LooC calendar here.
